Origins of the Bermondsey Republican Socialists

The origins of the BRS go back to the 2010 general election. An independent candidate stood to ‘Defend South Bank University’ and protest against all three main parties and their plans to support the City and the banks.

Whichever of these three main parties won the election, the outcome would be more or less the same. The new ‘government of the banks’ would force through a major redistribution of income and wealth from the people towards the rich and powerful.

Below are some materials produced by the election campaign, including the pamphlet “The Great Bankster Robbery” which was written in December 2010 to assess the lessons of the campaign.
